While holidaying in the beautiful Marlborough Sounds together last summer, the beautiful Renee Edwards and I started a conversation about wanting to create a unique event for women in the wedding photography industry. We shared a vision of being able to create a platform and a space where we could bring together wonderful, like-minded and creative souls for a collaborative learning experience and ultimate gals’ trip. We’ve both loved attending photography workshops in the past, but we also felt there was an opportunity for a photography-based learning experience that offered women the chance to collaborate, share and absorb knowledge in a super relaxed, zero-pressure environment and that also included lots of fun, creative activities.

Thus, The Seekers was born.

Fast-forward a few months and 8 wonderful women gathered at our gorgeous accommodation just outside of Wanaka, New Zealand. Our first evening consisted of Pim’s cocktails, an amazing catered dinner party by our new friends at Morsel Honest Food Co (holy shit, UNREAL) and of course, a bit of Cards Against Humanity – what a way to break the ice right?! On the morning of day 2 we were treated to a stunning sunrise followed by a yoga class with a gorg view of the mountains. After breakfast we were transported to flower-heaven with a mid-century floral workshop hosted by Karen from The Wilde Florist. We watched her effortlessly work her magic before each making our own take-home arrangement – this was honestly such a highlight! Lunch was spent basking in the afternoon sun talking all things wedding industry before heading off for our live shoot. This was so special to me, the girls were all swapping lenses and sharing tips & advice with one another. We wanted everyone to feel like they could have a turn directing if they wanted to, or equally that it was ok to sit back and observe. I loved seeing other people’s perspectives and approaches – gosh there were some talented souls! We arrived back (covered in biddy-bids) and were greeted by a freakin’ mammoth grazing table by The Platter Share for dinner. Absolute heaven. Face-masks and nail painting before bed and voil√†, we were already at the end of day 2! The Seekers retreat was wrapped up with a morning of editing, business chat & workflow together in the lounge, super chilled but super inspiring!

Wow, I knew this post would get long…thank you if you’re still here!

To wrap things up, I just wanted to say that far out, I am just SO flipping glad we did this – I left with such a full heart and a whole bunch of very special new friends. I cannot wait to see them smash their goals and follow their incredible journeys as women and artists. Thank you so much ladies, and all the kind people who supported our first ever event – we might see you for round 2?!

I also would like to give special mention to the following NZ brands for supporting us and allowing us to treat our girls extra special:
Together Journal, The Wilde Florist, George & Edi, Sophie Store, Blush Gin, Morsel Honest Food Co, The Platter Share, Ethique, House of Chocolate, Hot Yoga Fusion, Studio Ninja, Plant & Share, Ink & Silk and Natalie Chan – you guys are the best.

Finally (lol)…here are some snaps x

And here they are, the best bunch of gals! Thank you so much for reading x
