CAMPING ENGAGEMENT ADVENTURE
WITH CHARLOTTE & CAM
You know that feeling when you meet someone and you just…click?! Well, when I met Charlotte last year at our Seekers Photography Retreat this 100% happened. She is an utter sweetie (not to mention a very clever wee photographer) and we very quickly bonded over our mutual love if being total weirdos.
Whilst there, Charlotte mentioned that she was engaged and would love to do a shoot down in Hawea where Cam had proposed. We soon got planning and decided that a summer camping trip/engagement shoot would be an amazing experience to share!
The plan was to camp by Lake Hawea, then hike up a few hours to the spot where they got engaged to take some snaps. We met in Wanaka, grabbed some groceries then convoyed out to the campground. After an evening sitting around our wee table, laughing, drinking wine and our boys bromancing hard, we toddled off to bed at around midnight. We awoke the next morning, cooked some bacon and eggs for breaky and headed off for some exploring. In the afternoon, the wind picked up – it was howling and forecasted to rain. We made the decision that the hike may be too risky with the potential weather up there so decided instead to just wing it – it was beautiful!
The next morning we woke at 4:30am to drive to Omarama to explore the Clay Cliffs. We wanted to beat the summer sun and the tourists and it 100% paid off. We had the place entirely to ourselves and the light was just dreeeeamy.
This was such an epic adventure and again just highlights to me that what I’m so so passionate about is meeting and connecting with lovely, like-minded people and sharing fun and meaningful experiences with them. Charlotte and Cam, you are two absolute gems – let’s do it again soon!
